Supervisor, Vehicle Maintenance

Job Description
  1. Implement and oversee the Performance Management of employees including, providing feedback, and resources for training and development.
  2. Conducts annual performance appraisals, reviews salary adjustments, and recommends advancements or disciplinary actions.
  3. Oversees daily performance to ensure a productive rate of work and takes corrective action when necessary.
  4. Plans, directs, controls and prepares the schedule for the Vehicle Maintenance operation.
  5. Coordinates scheduling with the Nightshift Foreman to insure maximum efficiency and minimize the downtime of vehicles and equipment.
  6. Directs the work on hydraulic rebuilds and remounts to meet or exceed ANSI, OSHA and Manufacturer guidelines.
  7. Coordinates the service and repair of vehicles by outside vendors.
  8. Directs emergency repairs as required.
  9. Coordinates wrecker or towing services as needed.
  10. Directs/performs welding and fabrication as required.
  11. Directs bodywork and paint repairs.
  12. Prepares parts and material order requests on all work, insuring that requests are accurate and complete for purchase orders to be placed in a timely manner.
  13. Directs the documented receiving of all orders, reviewing orders for completion.
  14. Reviews all jobs in progress to make sure all required parts and material have been ordered and received in a timely manner.
  15. Inspects a portion of the maintenance and repair work to insure work was performed properly and completely.
  16. Reviews all mechanic timesheets for accuracy.
  17. Reviews all work orders for accuracy and completeness of parts charges, labor charges and work descriptions.
  18. Forwards all paperwork, i.e. timesheets, service orders, invoices, etc., to the Vehicle Maintenance Coordinator for proper checking, filing and further processing.
  19. Recommends the replacement of GreyStone vehicles as needed
  20. Responsible for meeting all OSHA and EPA regulations in the garage area.
  21. Insures that the shop environment is kept neat, clean and safe.
  22. Enforces safety rules, regulations and procedures.
 Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Requires fifteen years’ experience in vehicle maintenance and mechanic work; with mobile hydraulic major maintenance procedures and other electric utility equipment experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience is desired.
  • Must have the ability to operate vehicle shop equipment.
  • Must have the physical dexterity to handle a variety of mechanical tools.
  • Other related experience such as paint and bodywork, welding, fabrication, and installations of truck mounted equipment is preferred.
  • Prefer ASE Master Certification in Truck Equipment or Med/Hvy trucks, Fluid Power Certification, or equivalents.
  • Requires DOT Inspection Certification and a valid Georgia commercial driver’s license.
