Assistant Juvenile Public Defender
Full Time
An Assistant Juvenile Public Defender shall provide legal representation of minor children in all juvenile court matters pertaining to complaints of dependency, delinquency, traffic violations, contempt and children in need of services (C.H.I.N.S.) and any other matter as directed by the court’s appointment within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court.  This position does not include the representation of appellate matters.  This position also requires processing files and entering data into JCATS in compliance with the State Indigent Defense Council and other State standards. 
This is a contract position.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate Law Degree from an accredited law school
  • Must be a member of the Georgia State Bar in good standing
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum 1 year legal experience, preferably in areas of family and juvenile law
  • Must be computer literate with MS Office experience
  • Must have and maintain a valid United States Driver’s License (Class C), a satisfactory motor vehicle record and have alternative transportation to see clients as needed
  • Minimum 21 years of age
Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen/MVR and Background Investigation.
Salary: $52,000.00 annually, contract, based on experience and qualifications; plus full benefits package.
