Parks and Recreation
Park Security Officer 
Part Time (28 hours or less per week)
This is a Park Security position and is responsible for maintaining security of the County’s parks, grounds, Parks & Recreation’s Headquarters, Douglas County’s old courthouse and recreational facilities.  Work involves routine patrol of parks and recreational facilities to ensure the safety of county staff and citizens utilizing these facilities and to protect the property of the County.  The incumbent’s work is directly supervised by the Park Security Coordinator. Shift changes are routine to covering events, staff shortages, etc. The Incumbent will be exposed to outdoor conditions such as cold and hot weather, rain and thunderstorms and conditions that may become inclement at times.  The incumbent will monitor nature trail conditions and activities.    
The work schedule includes days, nights, weekends, and some holidays.  The candidate must be willing to work a changing work schedule that may include being available on days off.
The weekly work schedule (days and hours) varies based on the needs of the department.  The work schedule is up to 28 hours per week and includes days, nights, weekends, and some holidays.   
  • Mandatory - Experience in Security or Law Enforcement is mandatory
  • Preferred - Experience with or knowledge of presenting cases in Magistrate Court
  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by college-level or vocational course work in a related field preferred not mandatory
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn applicable county laws, rules, and ordinances as they relate to assignment
  • Required to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first six months of employment and become sworn in as a constable of Douglas County to enforce park ordinances
  • Must be receptive to additional training
  • Must have and maintain a valid United States Driver's License (Class C),a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) and the ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle; if assigned job duties require the use of a vehicle
  • Minimum 21 years of age
Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen/MVR and Background Investigation.
Salary range: $12.00 - $12.75 hourly; based on qualifications, NO BENEFITS
