Deputy Court Clerk                             
Part Time (28 hours or less per week)
 
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open Until Filled
 
The candidate will perform legal research, including, but not limited to researching laws and preparing legal documents.  The candidate will examine legal documents submitted to court for adherence to law or court procedures, prepare case folders, and will post, file and route documents.  This position involves a high level of communication as the deputy clerk maintains a heavy level of window and telephone transactions; candidate must have excellent phone and people skills and excellent clerical abilities in a fast-paced, high stress environment.  The work involves typing and preparing court forms and documents, processing complaints and court cases, maintaining court records in accordance with prevailing laws, policies, and procedures,   coordinating the court docket, assisting with court proceedings, receiving court fees and fines.  The clerk is deputized to sign and certify certain legal documents and serves in the courtroom.
 
Requirements: 
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred:  one year experience as a law clerk
  • Preferred: previous legal research experience that includes researching laws and preparing legal documents
  • Two years of Court Clerk or Legal experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability for this job
  • Must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Suite, prefer the ability to type 45 WPM
 
Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen, MVR and Background Investigation.
 
Salary: $13.51 hourly, NO BENEFITS
